July 23, 2006 - Suzette presented us with a beautiful jennet foal. Both mom and baby are doing great and it's absolutely delightful to watch this baby as she gets her "legs." Already a 1/2 hour after discovering the newly delivered foal, she was following Suzette around and soon after, as she got stronger, she was attempting to run. I've found it amazing to watch Suzette with her daughter. It's very much the same as watching a ewe with her new lambs, but it's also very different. There isn't the usual "calling" that goes on with the sheep, everything is silent. Eye contact seems to be much stronger in the bonding, and Suzette was walking large circles away from the baby, making sure the baby was able to follow her well.
